According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (2018), the leading cause of death and disability in the United States are Chronic diseases such as Heart Disease, Cancer, and Diabetes. Annual Health care costs is $3.3 trillion due to those chronic diseases.
​
Risky behaviors that cause chronic diseases:
Tobacco use and secondhand smoke exposure
Poor nutrition (diets low in fruits, vegetables and high in sodium and saturated fats.
Lack of exercise or physical activity
Excessive alcohol use
